Licensure Pathway

Interested in an Additional License in Teaching ESL K-12? 

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! Our K-12 ESL Additional License program has received final approval by the Minnesota Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)! 


All courses in our licensure pathway require admission to the Project MOMENTUM K-12 ESL Licensure program. Details including program requirements, general course information, and unit policies can be found in the Licensure Handbook.

Course Information

The Additional Licensure Pathway is designed to be completed in one year. Each cohort will complete nine courses within a set timeframe, including an orientation course, seven content courses, one seminar course, and one practicum course. The practicum requires a minimum of 80 hours in an ESL setting.

Eligibility 

Teachers holding a current Tier 3 or Tier 4 Minnesota Teaching License who meet the entrance criteria (detailed below) are eligible to apply to the K-12 ESL Additional Licensure Pathway Program. Applications will be accepted from November 15th to December 2nd, 2024. If you you are unsure about your eligibility, please submit an application and our team will conduct a full review.

Cost

The cost of the additional licensure pathway is being fully funded by a National Professional Development grant from the U.S. Department of Education Office of English Language Acquisition through Spring 2027.  Candidates who enroll by Fall 2026 will have program fees fully covered by the Southeast Service Cooperative.
